The latest round of the “Forum on Common Core Criteria” took place in the Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute of Hsin Chu. The forum aims at developing common core criteria for Television sets, VCR, VCD, DVD and Printers. This will serve as the basis for mutual recognition of the three products among different labelling schemes in the future. Comprehensive discussions were held on the common core criteria, test methods and assessment requirements. Participant in this forum include Japan, Thailand, Korea and Taiwan.
In regard to the three core criteria, Hong Kong at present only has a criterion on printer that is based on the common core criteria. The Green Council spokesperson expressed that they would consider adopting the other criteria as well. After the two-day Forum, an initial consensus was reached. The finalized common core criteria would be submitted respectively to the Global Eco-labelling Network, Nordic Swan and experts from different sectors for consultation.
